What causes Global Warming???
Human activity is the major cause of global warming. Industries burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas for energy, and deforestation, the cutting down and burning of forests, to clear land for farming and housing, creates the accumulation of carbon and overloads the Earth’s atmosphere. Waste management and agricultural practices make the problem worse by releasing other gases such as methane and nitrous oxide. This combination of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere helps trap heat near the Earth’s surface.
Carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere much faster and at levels too great for the Earth’s trees and plants to absorb it.
Coal-burning power plants are the largest source of carbon dioxide pollution in the USA producing around 2.5 billion tons of CO2 each year. Transportation is the second largest source of pollution in the USA, with road vehicles creating around 1.5 billion tons of CO2 each year.
