How can Global Warming be reduced?
The goal of bringing global warming under control and reducing the release of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere needs to be supported worldwide. To be
successful on a global level, richer countries must commit to aid and provide financial support to poorer countries in making the changes necessary to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change.
Reducing and eventually phasing out the use of fossil fuels for energy is essential to tackling global warming. The alternative is relying on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and geothermal, which are available around the world, and able to meet the majority of the world’s energy needs while reducing pollution.
Emissions from vehicles have increased at a huge rate in recent years. This needs to be addressed by switching to low-carbon fuels, improving mileage efficiency and the promotion of and investment in public transportation.
The remaining forests of the world need to be carefully managed as trees play a vital part in absorbing greenhouse gases. It is unrealistic to think that no more forests will be cut down, but those trees felled need to be balanced by the planting of new trees.
